The difference between Maya and her sister...

amused

current mood: amused
current song: "I Resolve"--She Loves Me

So I'm in the car earlier today with my 17-year old sister Lynn, and I'm driving to our job orientation. Since, I'M driving I get to choose the music. I choose to listen to one of Corinna's mixes. Let it be noted that showtunes are the scourge of Lynn's existence (although she did rather enjoy "I Need Me A Girl" because she's a lesbian, hehehe). "I Can Do Better Than That" from L5Y comes on. This approximation of our discussion ensued:

Lynn: Why is she so excited? (disgusted face)

Maya: Loser...she's asking her boyfriend about living together...she's head over head in heels in love...of course she's excited.

Lynn: But why does she have to belt about being excited?

Maya: Umm...maybe because it's a musical?

Lynn and I then proceeded to contemplate the possibilites of a musicalization of my sister's life. Basically, it would be her sitting at the computer for 2 and a half hours, singing out URLs. That girl is just hopeless.

Oh...and everyone needs to check out this link, it's fricking hilarious. Thanks, Colestritch!

That would be sorta like the musical of my life, which would be called ...And Therapy on Thursdays!

Hahaha! So it would be something Falsettosesque, maybe, about a straight boy who loves musical theatre, his computer and video games? I could see it working!

Yes.

Yes, it would.

The show would open with the title song, in which I would delineate by "schedule" including therapy on Thursdays. Other songs would include "No Life, No Job," "I'm Not a Pervert (I Just Like Emma Watson)," and "So Much Music, So Little Time." Throughout the show, my mom would appear to yell at me for singing when I should be out looking for a job.

Fabulous! All the irreverent humor and touching pathos of "Avenue Q" sans puppets!

I think the Seth-protagonist should meet and romance a girl who looks like Emma Watson...only with fully developed breasts, hehe.

Is belting about being excited something odd? When you're really happy, isn't it a natural impulse to shout? It seems quite natural to me.

Now, belting "A Quiet Thing," on the other hand, would be weird.

Well, of course, it's perfectly natural! Lynn just doesn't understand the basic concept of musical theatre--singing in states of heightened emotion.

Awww, I don't think belting "A Quiet Thing" would be THAT terrible!

Wow.... the musical of my life would probably be a lot like that also... with the recurring theme of the "I Need Sex" song... sigh.

Things happen in my life, but when they do, I just put them on lj.

(I don't visit too many websites, so the URL songs would have a LOT of reprieses. A lot of IM songs, as well!)

Hehehe...yeah, you could just sing out "LOL! BRB!" and things like that.

And I think the "I Need Sex" song is something that needs to be constantly reprised in most people's lives! ;)

You can borrow my theme song: "Times Like This" from Lucky Stiff.

Except I prefer cats to dogs.

Agnes' marvelling

I sing Times Like This as a theme!!

But I add in all the cliches about the moon and the wonders of the night...so invetably I get to Les Mis...

I want a theme song.
